Have you ever wondered how the enormous vision in your heart can come into existence? Does it seem impossible for you to accomplish it without help? If it does, that’s actually good news. One of the hallmarks of a God given vision is that it’s impossible for us to accomplish on our own. It always requires a vital ingredient only God Himself can supply.
As I was reading the Bible the other day, I was struck by something Jesus said. In Mark Chapter 1, Jesus called the first Disciples with this word:
“Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
Notice what He said: “I will make you become”. Jesus promised that He would create in them a new identity as far as calling and vision was concerned. He would make them something they were not.
Jesus spoke the vision over their lives. It was impossible in the natural. They were simple fishermen. They were not people of influence. They didn’t have a loud voice in the society they lived in. Yet the religious leaders of the time were later to marvel at their boldness, noting they had been with Jesus.
Jesus promised to make the change in them, with only one condition: “Follow Me.” The simple condition to each of them being transformed was that they walked with Jesus. He then did the transforming.
Herein dwells the exciting potential of your vision. It becomes possible through one condition: You follow Jesus.
It may appear impossible. You may be sitting there thinking that the vision that is alive in your heart might as well be a million miles away. You may not know the first step for it to be accomplished. The truth is, it is impossible until you walk with Jesus through the preparation. Then step by step He will transform you; bringing you through one place of training after another; transforming your heart and your thinking.
Even then the vision may seem out of reach, but He begins to bring the opportunities. After three years of ‘equipping’ from Jesus the disciples were left hiding in an upper room after his death. But then came the day of Pentecost. This amazing outpouring of the Holy Spirit gathered a multitude together and transformed 120 frightened disciples, which included those original fishermen, into a church of 3,000.
Then the encounter of Peter and John with the lame man at the Gate Beautiful had all the people amazed and streaming to Solomon’s Porch to hear all about it, and the church grew again.
Just one touch of the Spirit on the people who had followed Jesus and they became fishers of men!
So be encouraged today. If you have dreamed with God, then simply follow Jesus. He will ‘make you become’. Your dream is not impossible. It just needs some input from the God of the impossible to make it happen.
