Are you in need of God’s provision? Whether your need is large or small, He will come through for you. That is my experience and that of many others I know.
My wife Nicki and I have recently come into a season where we are wholly reliant on God’s provision just to eat let alone for any other expenses. In fact, during my time walking with God I have had at least six major seasons where I have had to look to God to miraculously sustain me.
When I first came to know Jesus, I was running a business training sports horses and riders. To be honest, I was not particularly skilled, but I trusted God and my business began to grow. In fact, it grew enough that people who had known me before couldn’t believe it. They kept asking ‘how was this possible?’ I naively thought it was because of my abilities as a businessman until the week God asked me to go in a different direction.
I was at the height of my success with the business, yet within seven days I had lost all of my clients except one. When I asked God what was going on, He showed me that He wanted me to go to Bible school. I was happy to go, but what had this time served to show me? God was the one who had blessed my business.
Then there was the time He sustained me as I served a small church full time, providing all of my needs.
A year after that, He gave me the vision for the Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team. During the ten years in which I ran the team, we saw amazing financial miracles sustain the work. When I handed it over to others, we were seeing God provide the team over £200,000 a year.
When Nicki and I were called out of the team by God, we both left our full time jobs knowing that He was calling an end to that chapter of our lives. We knew we had to step down but we had no idea what God was asking us to do next. All we knew was that we were to wait for Him. Little did we know that this season of living by faith was to last ten months. We had no regular income, but God provided for every bill to be paid and for every meal on the table.
Then we were led to take over leading a Church which had been struggling financially for years, and God continued to provide through every season in amazing ways. Even when we took a step that we knew God had asked us to do, but which caused us to shrink by two thirds, the finances continued to cover every bill.
We are now at a point in our lives when Nicki and I sense God has called us to attend a ‘School of Supernatural Life’ part time for the next year. Our monthly income just covers our rent and bills. We trust God for the fuel, food, and expenses. A month into this new season, we have already seen God provide for us in miraculous ways!
So why am I sharing all this with you? Apart from the encouragement that I get from sharing testimonies, I want to bring to your attention what Jesus said about being anxious about our needs. In Matthew 6:25-33 [He says]:
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
I can say from proven experience, that if you trust God and pursue life with Him, He will provide for you every step of the way.
We didn’t choose to live by faith because we didn’t want to get jobs. Either circumstances found us there or God clearly led us into those seasons. We equally know times when we looked for jobs, trusting God, and He provided.
Whatever the path that is before you, if you seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, He will provide for all your needs. So don’t be anxious. Let hope arise, He’s got it all in hand!
There is great power in sharing testimonies. We would love to hear about how God has blessed you. Please leave a comment below.
